ISO 9001: The new revision is coming in 2026 – prepare now!

ISO 9001, the globally recognised standard for quality management systems, is being revised – and will bring significant changes in 2026! The last revision was almost a decade ago, and now the standard is being updated to meet the challenges of digitalisation, sustainability and resilient risk management.

Key changes

Integration of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) aspects
Digitalisation through the SMART standards project (SMART stands for Standards, Applicable, Readable, Transferable) – machine-readable standards
Focus on ethics, vision and values in corporate governance
Extended requirements for climate protection, opportunity and risk management

The structure remains the same, but the requirements are growing. Companies are required to adapt their processes to new requirements and align them strategically. The new ISO 9001 standard provides support in making quality future-proof and securing competitive advantages.

Start preparing now! Getting to grips with the revision early on will give you a clear head start.
